Prostate Health for African American Men

Dr. Brandon Haynes, Dept of Urology, UW
Dr. Bruce Montgomery, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/UW
Dr. Haynes completed his medical training at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center School of Medicine in New Orleans and is currently a 4th year resident physician in the Department of Urology at the University of Washington Medical Center. There, he serves as President of the institution's Network of Underrepresented Residents and Fellows (UW NURF). Additionally, he sits on the Graduate Medical Education and Continuous Professionalism Improvement committees. He has an interest in healthcare disparities and minority healthy education and served as panelist at the recent UW Medicine Grand Rounds presentation on these topics. His current research endeavors are in the fields of neurology, genitourinary trauma, and reconstruction.
Dr. Bruce Montgomery is clinical director of genitourinary medical oncology, carrying out research and seeing men and women with genitourinary cancers at SCCA/UWMC. Dr. Montgomery divides his time between seeing patients at the SCCA Prostate Center and research. He is a medical oncologist, an associate professor at UW Medicine, one of SCCA’s parent organizations, and an affiliate member of the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, another SCCA founding organization. Dr. Montgomery and his colleagues are researching new ways of making prostate cancer cells more sensitive to chemotherapy and hormonal therapy. Dr. Montgomery is a medical oncologist who generally sees men with prostate, bladder and testicular cancer, which may be treated with chemotherapy or other options such as hormone therapy.
