Become a Member

Obtain the sponsorship of a financial member and complete the membership application. By joining you are committing to a attending a minimum of 6 of the 10 monthly meetings, and to becoming an active member of a committee (Economic and Business Development, Education, Finance, Fundraising, Marketing, Membership, or Program).  We also expect each member to participate in our Project M.I.S.T.E.R.™ mentorship program.

We meet the second Thursday of each month, except during the months of July and August.  The meetings are held from 7:30-9am at the first AME Church Annex in Seattle (Capitol Hill Area). December is reserved for our holiday dinner social event and membership drive.   The holiday meeting is traditionally held at an African-American owned venue, as an extension of our efforts to invest in the local African-American business community.  The regular monthly meetings are held to conduct membership business. We also feature a guest speaker to provide the group with information and ideas of concern to the African-American community.  The program emphasis for our monthly meetings is Education and Economic Development.

Activities include our Signature Programs: Tie-One-On Student Luncheon and the All Achievers Scholarship Awards; Project M.I.S.T.E.R.™Alternative High School Mentorship Speaker Program, Roots Labor Day Weekend Cookout, University of Washington Husky Football Practice Lunch, University of Washington and Seattle University Basketball Practice Pizza Events with local community children.

The Breakfast Group’s fiscal year runs Sept 1-Aug 31.   The annual financial investment is $350 plus a one-time new member initiation fee of $50 and includes; Annual Dues; Monthly Membership Breakfast Meetings; Special Events, such as the Annual Holiday Dinner Event; and our Two Signature Programs (The Tie-One-On Luncheon and The All Achievers Award Ceremony).

All annual dues are to be paid in full by Dec 31 (members receive an invoice in mid-Sept). You may pay by check or credit card (via our Donate link page on our website). If you join after April 1st, your membership dues will be credited for payment toward the next Sept 1-Aug 31 fiscal year.

Financial members will receive the Breakfast Group Membership Directory, and a Breakfast Group suit lapel pin.  They have the right to vote on important Breakfast Group initiatives, to be an active committee member, and to receive the Breakfast Group quarterly Newsletter.  As a Breakfast Group member you will belong to a prestigious organization that is known by name from the Governor of Washington, to the University of Washington President, from the Seattle Police Chief to all prominent Seattle business leaders and politicians.
