On Thursday, May 21st 2015, please join the Atlantic Street Center and the Seattle Community Police Commission for the hosting of a ‘Listening Session’ for Blacks who live in Seattle! (Please note: youth are welcome to accompany, but their feedback will be recorded at another date and time. Other listening sessions are scheduled with other communities of color.)
Purpose of the Listening Session:
The purpose of the event is to engage the Black community in a discussion about the Seattle Police Department (SPD). We are specifically seeking the Black community’s insight and feedback to bring about SPD reforms concerning:
· Types of interactions between officers and community members.
· Accessibility of SPD’s public safety and informational materials.
· Ways in which the precincts are reaching out to people of color to establish relationships.
