We look forward to an engaging 3rd Annual Herman McKinney Economic and Business Development Summit! This is the first major event in celebration of our 40th Anniversary, and it is named after our beloved co-founder Herman McKinney.
This year's event will be a highly engaging conversation facilitated by keynote speaker Lance Randall, Economic Development Director at Southeast Effective Development (SEED).
Our group is committed to creating a functional pipeline for education and workforce development, which includes a focus on the potential for high growth/high impact Entrepreneurship in the community we serve. We work to help students of color become more successful, and through those same students, connect with their families to assist them with access to Economic Development resources.
The Summit
The Breakfast Group aims to improve success among our community’s most underserved youth by building upon current programs of empowerment that work while incorporating innovative new methods. The newer approach includes an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) based programs that help position our target youth for 21st century jobs and/or entrepreneurship. We also understand the significance of intergenerational communication, therefore providing mentorship alongside of youth enrichment activities. Perhaps even more important in our work is skill-building through student-led platform development wherein our students receive opportunities to make big things happen for themselves.
We look forward to a vigorous discussion and to identifying new opportunities to support our community through this high profile summit and the objectives that emerge.
